Guests are welcome to indulge in an assortment of hearty breakfast options – such as their famed shakshuka or creamy chicken livers on toast – while sipping on a coffee or a mimosa and soaking in the eclectic environment of hanging plants and antique treasures.

Kloof Street House

Situated towards the bottom of Kloof Street in a Victorian building is a fantastical dining experience.

Inside, Gatsby-style furnishings set the scene, while a treed courtyard provides the backdrop for laidback jazzy brunches such as Eggs Benedict with smoked Norwegian salmon, smoked bacon, or mushrooms and spinach; or a traditional breakfast with a teriyaki beef-banger twist, to name a couple. Then order a cocktail (mimosa, espresso martini, Bellini, Bloody Mary) and soak up the scene.

Breakfast served Monday, 12pm – 4pm
Tuesday – Sunday, 10am – 4pm

The Yard

In the Silo District of the V&A Waterfront, this bistro serves breakfast, lunch and dinner in a contemporary, open-plan space.

The breakfast menu offers exciting variations on the usual themes, such as The Big Bombay: Indian-style scrambled eggs, roasted vine tomatoes, crispy potato rosti, breakfast dal, lamb sausage with sauteed spinach and homemade flatbread. Not quite sure what you fancy? Well, you can build your own breakfast or try one of the specials on the chalkboard – it gets updated with new scrumptious options every day.

Blue Café

This historic neighbourhood café’s tables and chairs are jam-packed with food and patrons, all the way down the narrow pavement.

A gathering place for the community, it has Table Mountain as backdrop and is surrounded by beautiful Victorian buildings.

All dishes are made from scratch using only the freshest local ingredients, often supplied by the Tamboerskloof community.

On a chilly day, try the creamy oats with stewed fruit or go for the full monty – scrambled eggs, bacon, roasted tomatoes, mushrooms and a butter croissant with white cheddar.

Breakfast served Monday – Sunday, 7.30am – 4pm

Lily's

This all-day eatery on Mouille Point’s Platinum Mile is part of the Kove Collection, whose stable includes The Bungalow, Paranga, Surfshack, La Belle, Firefish, Bobo’s and Blanko.

Harnessing its endless sea views, Lily’s combines lavish furnishings and fine interiors with a carefully considered menu.

Its relaxed ambience makes it a perfect all-day breakfast spot, with options running the gamut of healthy (oats with almond butter) to decadent (maple-syrup pancakes) at any time of day!

For lunch I can personally recommend the seared Tuna.

For a unique take on an Eggs Benny, try the Croissant Benedict. The Lemon Poppy Waffle also comes highly recommended with delicious warm berry compote, crème fraîche and pure maple syrup (imported from Québec, Canada).
